A major influence that inspired Ryan Jeans to create vanGrey, was discovering a wonderful community of musicians, artists, and friends when he joinedMaracatu Mar Aberto, anAfro / Brazilian / Canadian drum troupe.
In this group, connections were made that encouraged Ryan to create vanGrey and to explore deeper his passion for working with music, event creation, decorating, and social networking / to bring people together for common greater good and enjoyment for all.
On a social level Ryan would often throw “garage” parties, infamous for abstract decor, “reclaimed ” from the streets, a cottage in the city vibe, a fire-pit, big sound, intimate lighting, visual media, and a cozy environment.
The name vanGrey, created in June, 2012 by Ryan Jeans, was inspired by a Grey coloured mini-van used by Ryan for his construction / property management company, ryanRenos. Many friends came to identify Ryan as the man with the Grey van. Outside of construction, renovations, & property management, ryanRenos also contracted cartage and logistics to people needing moves, shopping, and deliveries.
